A letter from Grace (our social media director) about her collection.

Hi everyone,

Today we launched a collection of jewelry that was designed and produced with the help of our sourcing team. These personal pieces are inspired by important aspects of my life: growing up on Cape Cod {this, this, and this}, my grandmother’s jewelry box {this ring; and this necklace is a direct replica of one of my favorite necklaces of hers}, and life here in New York City {this rope + chain necklace, this ring!}

All my life I have dreamed of having my own jewelry line, so this is a really exciting day for me.

Many of you know about my background at BaubleBar from reading my personal blog, Stripes & Sequins, but in case you don’t, I’ll share it with you now—it’s a story I love to tell! I started at BaubleBar a little over three years ago. At the time I was working in a more corporate marketing role and had started a blog as a side project. I have always been a huge jewelry lover and my blog featured jewelry DIY projects and posts about my favorite designers.

About three and a half years ago, I stumbled upon BaubleBar and instantly fell in love. I loved that they carried {even in those early stages!} a wide array of jewelry at incredible prices. {For a laugh, read this Stripes & Sequins blog post from January of 2011 – please enjoy the terrible collage and misspelling of BaubleBar.} I found myself writing about the company often, emailing back and forth with the cofounders to let them know the styles I wanted to see and help them pinpoint the bloggers they should be emailing, and from there, you might say that history was made.

In March of 2011, Amy and Daniella invited me out to drinks. I was excited to meet them in person and scampered out of work for a martini date at Pranna. It was there that they told me about a job opening they had as a Social Media Director. At the time, I didn’t even realize jobs like that existed…and I was nervous about the opportunity since I had no formal training in social media tactics. I spent the entire weekend putting together a PowerPoint proposal detailing what I would do if I were to join their team. I presented it to them the following week, and they offered me the job. It was all so surreal.

I had always worked for big, secure companies so making the switch was a little bit intimidating – mostly because of the questions I got. “Are you independently wealthy?” “What will you do if it fails?” I told the naysayers that it wasn’t going to fail, and, although I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I really believed in Amy and Daniella’s vision for the company. Turns out, my hunch was right all along. I started in April of 2011 and it’s been an amazing ride.

So here we are over three years later, and BaubleBar has truly become an amazing global brand. I’m so happy and excited to be a part of it, and I hope this collection reflects how much fun I have working with such an amazing team.

In my eyes, this collection encompasses the jewelry box staples I think that everyone needs—summer rope jewelry, versatile antiqued brass, and of course, no shortage of sparkle.

xoxo,

Grace

I’ve been following Baublebar (my referral link) since the very beginning and at one point back in the unemployed days, I even emailed them asking about internship opportunities. I obviously didn’t end up interning there and shortly after that meeting, I took my career in a different direction but I’ve always enjoyed watching their growth and rave about their jewelry to everyone I know. Every interaction with Grace (and the brand as a whole) has been nothing but positive. I’m so excited to see Grace design her own collection for them and can’t wait to pick up a couple pieces for myself!

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014 RTW Beaded Snake Gown - $1,397.00

FYI: If you’re obsessing over this dress as much as I am, Francesca’s has a very similar one for much much less. (Still looking for a cheaper version of Olivia Wilde’s Stella McCartney resort dress from this post too).

Regarding my AYR post yesterday

Are people familiar with AYR yet? Because if not, you’re going to want to be. Originally developed by the geniuses behind Bonobos, AYR stands for All Year Round and I assure you, it’s going to be your next big obsession.

I originally read about them on Grace’s blog a couple of months ago and when one of our work events auctioned off a gift certificate for a pair of AYR jeans last month, I immediately picked it up.

While right now they are strictly an online retailer, they’ve got what they refer to as a “guideshop" in their NYC headquarters where you can make an appointment to see and try on the collection in person. Following your guideshop appointment they will place an order for you on the spot and ship your purchases to you.

So yesterday, I took a couple of my most trusted advisors (aka girlfriends who aren’t afraid to tell you something doesn’t look good on you) and made my way down to AYR.

You guys, I’m being serious when I tell you that the skinnies I got yesterday are the best jeans I’ve ever had in my life. Soft, stretchy, somehow pre-broken in, I’ve already warned my friends to plan on seeing me in them all.the.time.

I also picked up this little number, a double lined silk cami that is perfect for anything from a night out to a dressier day at the office (with a blazer or something over it of course).

It’s a little higher than my normal price point (and we did receive a slight discount on anything that was purchased during our appointment yesterday), but AYR is really focusing on breaking women of their fast fashion addictions and encouraging them to buy pieces that will last instead of “the next big thing.” It’s all a great concept and I will definitely be heading back there very very soon.

The perfect “work to weekend” striped dress straight from Joe Fresh (and it’s only $29!). Follow my lead, get yourself to a Joe Fresh or JCPenney (if you’re not in NYC) ASAP and buy this in anticipation of the warm spring/summer weather that will eventually come our way.

I wish that this looked as cool on a normal person (aka me) as it does on her.

Guys? I highly recommend treating yourself to this ASAP. I picked it up a couple of weeks ago on a whim and I don’t think I can tell you how much I’ve worn it since then. It’s super soft and cozy and goes with EVERYTHINGfrom workwear to weekend. Confession? I’m even wearing it over my pjs right now. And ebates has 7% cash back and gap has 30% off through midnight. So what I’m telling you is that buying this is a no-brainer. Happy Holidays.

Party at The Bar with Blair!

baublebar:

Last night we had the party at The Bar for the lucky ladies who won the Atlantic-Pacific sweepstakes! There was no shortage of baubles and bubbly! Each winner received a prize pack from the Atlantic-Pacific collection, could bring a friend and they got to meet Blair! We had such a fun time mingling with all the ladies!

A couple of weeks ago I got an email that I’d won a chance to meet Blair of Atlantic Pacific fame and check out BaubleBar’s new retail store. So last night, despite the awful weather, my pal Rachel and I headed downtown after work.

A couple things:
1. Blair is as awesome as I would imagine and so sweet. The collection is really cute (but you all knew that).
2. The Bar is kind of awesome. Its really bright & colorful and well designed, AND it’s filled with both website favorites and a few pieces that they don’t have online. New York girls, I highly recommend making a trip to the Bar ASAP.

Thanks for having me team BB!
